Help with online gambling and casino problems
Ways to step away from online casino games, slots and harmful in-game spending.
When “one more” keeps repeating.
Online slots, live casino and fast games involve real-money stakes. Skin betting and paid random rewards in video games can also create spending harms; ordinary gaming is not automatically gambling.
What makes this activity different?
Casino games offer rapid repeat stakes. Skin betting wagers items of value; loot boxes sell uncertain rewards and are not all legally classified alike. WHO identifies casino games and electronic gambling machines as often associated with high harm.
Common patterns of harm
Notice losing track of time or money, increasing stakes, and continuing after deciding to stop. A near miss or a previous loss does not mean a win is now due.
Practical ways forward
Self-exclude from casino accounts and add site and payment blocks. For in-game spending, remove saved cards, disable purchases and avoid third-party skin-betting sites. Combine barriers with specialist support.
A recovery story to listen to
A casino-gambling recovery story about telling her mother, using self-exclusion and finding peers. Related recovery experience; not a loot-box-specific story.
